Employees Sue CenturyTel over Unpaid Overtime

Lear & Werts LLP and our co-counsel Stueve Siegel Hanson, LLP has filed a collective action lawsuit against CenturyTel of Missouri, LLC and CenturyTel, Inc. ("CenturyTel") alleging that employees did not receive overtime pay as required by the federal Fair Labor Standards Act ("FLSA").

Summary of Lawsuit

Lear & Werts represents CenturyTel employees - and a class of those similarly situated to them - in their claims against CenturyTel. The case alleges that CenturyTel consistently violates wage and hour laws by failing to accurately record all time worked and failing to pay earned wages and overtime. Examples of the unlawful practices claimed include: (1) requiring employees to work "off the clock" by not paying for work performed pre-shift and post-shift; and (2) utilizing an inherently inaccurate time-keeping system. This lawsuit is entitled Arin McLean v. CenturyTel of Missouri, L.L.C. and CenturyTel, Inc., Case No. 2:08-CV-4055-SOW and is pending in the Central Division of the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri. The judge assigned to the case is the Honorable Scott O. Wright.
